teens

it takes courage to grow up & be who you really are

Our teenage years are some of the most crucial of our lives; a time when we are learning who we are & where we fit. Therapy provides your teen with a safe, non-judgmental space to make sense of their experiences & learn how to navigate their thoughts & feelings in a healthy way.

Therapy can help your teen:

  • improve their sense of self-worth & confidence in themselves

  • gain an understanding of how to maintain & build healthy relationships

  • enhance communication skills

  • learn to identify what they are feeling & thinking

  • utilize healthy coping mechanisms

the future depends on what you do today

common questions

Are you, as the parent, required to be there?

  • I will ask that you be present for the first 15 minutes of the initial session so that we can discuss the therapy process. We will discuss the informed consent document to ensure there is a clear understanding. We will also discuss your hopes & goals for your teen. After this, you are not required to attend sessions with your teen.

What does parent involvement look like during the therapy process?

  • As your teen is participating in individual therapy, I ensure that everyone involved understands that this process is for the teen & everything we discuss will be confidential (except the limits of confidentiality explained in the informed consent). Your teen & I will discuss how they want to involve you in their therapy journey. I will provide you with updates on their participation & progress.
